Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) Application 2021-22

 EMA Application Form

Are you waiting for GCSEs or studying in Sixth From?

Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) is a weekly payment of £30 to help 16-18 year olds with the costs of further education.

Payments are made every 2 weeks as long as you meet your school or college’s attendance, performance and behaviour requirements.

Click here for more information on EMA and eligibility.

Please download the Application Form above to apply.

Key dates for EMA Application

April 2021: applications for the new academic year become available. The earlier you make your application, the better. If you do not know if you’ll be continuing at school or going to college, that’s OK. You can still make an application and let us know if anything changes.

30 June 2021: send us your completed application form and evidence by this date to have your application approved by the start of your course.

13 weeks: to be eligible for backdated payments, you must apply within thirteen weeks of the start of your course. You must also sign your EMA Agreement within this same thirteen-week period.

31 August 2022: this is the last date we can accept your application and evidence for you to be eligible for EMA in academic year 2021 to 2022.

If your circumstances change during the academic year, you’ll need to update your application. Changing your application may affect how much student finance you can get.
